Night out with JAG

Night with JAG - 5 by you. I haven't been blogging as much as I should have been, so I figured it is time for some catch up posts. Before hitting the DLD conference with GABEB I went out with JAG. I've only been talking with JAG online, and it was so great to finally meet her in person. We had a great night dancing at the Escape in Amsterdam thanks to a couple of free tickets from Pensly. Here is a short video of dancing. Ok, it is one of my,  "I don't care" video styles. But still nice. I'm sure there are a lot of jealous guys out there going to look at this. All I can say about JAG is that she is one of the coolest people you will ever meet.

Loving le web

Ok, so people are complaining about the following things at Le Web 08. It is too cold, the food is scant and auditorium has too much noise to hear speakers, etc. etc. etc. Yeah it is cold, ok. Other conferences there is no air and everyone is sweating and smelly. Which do you prefer? Food is scant? Great means people get drunk faster and start loosening up and talking more. Speakers are hard to hear, well if you are really interested in a speaker you sit in the front, otherwise it is a nice distraction while you try to check your email anyway, let's be honest. So why am I loving Le Web. Just like any conference I ever go to. The people. It is not the speaker list that attracts me, the big names, it is the people I meet there, having a smoke, sharing a coffee, one on one chat in an exchange of ideas, common interests, and start building the ties of a relationship. I honestly no longer try to "network", as if I could ever really do that. Talking with a big VC investor, I ask, so "How are the kids doing now?", or some CEO of a startup, "Man, you look tired, are you doing ok? Can I help you out in any way?", or talking with a top blogger of tech crunch or something saying ,"Man, check this out I can make my fingers smoke." These are the things that I talk about at a conference with people becuase most of these people are my friends over the years. And of course in between come the moments of aha together, and those are the seeds of a great idea, that could turn into a great company, or change in direction or whatever.

This year at le web I am blown away by in just one day I've gotten 5 job offers from all over the world. I know people are looking for jobs everywhere and I am frtunate to have 5 offers in 1 day here at le web. So whatever any one else's expereince may be at le web is an individual one, so remember that. This year I am having an amazing time, and feel extremely fortunate. There are not many conferences where I can go to in a time of recision and get so many job offers. Thank you Loic and Geraldine Le Meur. Thank you for Le Web.

And for me to finally meet Meghan Asha from Nonsociety. Just the icing on the cake.

Good Morning Paris!Per usual, I’m making innocent bystanders PhotoBooth with me at the conference.
Today’s victim? Gabriel McIntyre from Mobuzz TV, I’ve been corresponding with him since my trip to Marbella. It’s a pleasure to finally meet him this international video blogger in the FLESH!
Mobuzz is on hiatus while they figure out their funding, I miss their daily VERY informative video blogs (sigh!). Quality video web content still has a hard time surviving, it’s a tough business model that needs to adapt with the shift in media consumption.

WOW, the love

Since mobuzz launched there have been a flood of comments, blog posts, twitters and more. At the moment we really need more help as it is really slowing down. But the love that has been expressed is more than the haters, so much more. If nothing elese it is so nice to see how much people love the show. I really hope it can be saved, but it is not looking good at the moment. The meter is stuck on 15% and we should be at at least 20% by now. But that not withstanding, just look at some of the beautiful comments that have been posted...

I'm deeply upset. If i wasn't an Unemployed Student, i would be more then willing to help support. In this time of uncertain stability i'm finding hard to get work. When i do get some stable money behind me, I would be happy to put something foreword.
I do however have an idea to pass by you. I would think that if you run this campaign, not only for the next few days, but for the rest of the lifetime of Mobuzz you could maintain a little more support along side. I would think many of our fellow community would help in ways such as this.

I have also been reading some of the comments posted before me and as 'maeghith' talked about other outlets i must agree....I was waiting and watching on YouTube via the Subscriptions tab. I found this the easiest way for myself to get my Mobuzz fix. This is one reason why i found myself heading over to the homepages. If you could upload a campaign video, i think it could hit a 100 or more people on YouTube. The internet is at your power.

Good Luck...
!Peace

I always preferred people who do things even if they make mistakes than those who do nothing. I cross the fingers for you and for Mobuzz

CIT to all the haters:

This wonderfull "hidden" crew delivered a DAILY freshup of "TOP" hightech News and Recommendations of interesting extrordinary websites, portals, gadges and software! FOR FREE !!!

To get your attentention, all shows have been never been the same. Not one content, not one background, not one T-Shirts !!! Not even in the different countries In Spain, France as the English site, which i visited daily here in Holland.

Mobuzz is the one and only realtime TV, discovering our WEB about the WEB.
And this with fun and multilinguale!

These French / Spain /Dutch / English teams worked hard daily to deliver the dailybuzz news.

It looks like, the crew has spend so much money (in servers and streams payments) and also in time, enthusiasm to work together, that they have forgot the basics..to need to stay alive.

It is clear, bussiness and money was not the first goal by this project ! It was the buzz!

This extraordinary club MOBUZZ delivered content, you will not find elsewhere on the web.

And now they need our support. RIGHT NOW !!!.....
Because time is running !!!!

Support NOW !!! ...

Send some money to the intire Mobuzz Team, they need to get to survive to deliver you further daily buzz !!!

All the best to the team, all the money you need for the deadline.....

I've donated 100 Eur. I don't want a refund if you don't make it to your goal. Consider it a reflection of the enjoyment I've had over the last couple of years.

That said, I've always wondered how you were monetizing MoBuzz; obviously it's been tough but do consider a subscription based service. I'd pay a 5 Eur per month subscription.

Good luck but don't sell yourselves short in the hunt for funding.

Ian.

Vlog Europe the A-TeaM

For VlogEurope we usually do some kind of excursion. The reason is we are vloggers and like to get out and record things rather than sit inside listening to powerpoint presentations. This year we were split into teams. I was in the A Team along with BicycleMark and Isabelle (who had never vlogged before but was curious about it so came along). We had the most excellent day walking around Budapest, seeing things, taking shots, sharing stories and learning more about eachother. Well Mark and I already know a lot about each other as we are neighbours in Amsterdam, and friends for years, but it was so nice to meet Isabelle. We all became friends that day. And thanks to vlogging, we have the video to remember those moments when our friendship started to bloom. Here is the vlog that BicycleMark edited together.

Nobel Peace Prize

I hadn't blogged about this yet, but I am so happy to hear that Martti Ahtisaari won the Nobel Peace Prize this year. Martti is the father of my friend Marko Ahtisaari who is the founder of Blyk. We saw each other in Amsterdam a couple of weeks back and planned an interview when I'm in Monaco, so be sure to check it out in November. Again, Marko's father Martti has done so much for creating peace around the world, among other things ending a 28 year conflict in Indonesia.

Vlog Europe here i Come!!!

Just got my confirmation for VlogEurope. Can't wait to see all the crazy die hard vloggers again. This is not your big over douchbagged conference or circle jerk gathering. This is one of those truley unique gatherings where people actually discuss their passion for vlogging, everyone is at the same level, learning and teaching. It is always a wonderful experience, and I just wanna thank Jeffrey Taylor and Raymond for putting it together and techsmith for sponsoring. Come an join the fun in Budapest Oct. 18!Technorati Tags: , , ,

Spike on G4TV with Comicon

[Annecy Animation Gods and me]

My Buddy Spike called me up today and was dumbstruck that I moved to Spain. "I guess you can no longer be the Fake dutchie" he said. We talked for a bit and he told me he was on G4's Attack of The Show during Comicon. Always fun to see Spike in his element. For more check out Spike and Mike's website for some great Sick and Twisted animations.

Here's my interview with Spike back in the XOLO days:
