Some of you may have seen some of the popular work that Andy Samberg, Jorna Taccone and Akiva Schaffer have done. Most recently they have come out with the hit “I’m on a Boat”. One of the songs off The Lonely Island album “Incredibad“. But to know the back channel this comic genius of our time is also inspiring for us netizens.

Andy Samberg is living the dream that many youtube wannabes have. Years ago Andy and his comedy crew of “Lonley Island” have been clogging the tubes. Early on, music videos they uploaded had a wit to the culture of online with references to geekdome. From MMO Gaming to just plain teenage dream fulfillment. The flicks spread quickly across the message boards and the internets, giving the group more traction. One project brought them to the attention of Lorne Michaels of Saturday Night live, which is where they run rampant now.

Andy and Justin Timberlake became friends and Justin has appeared in many of the skits and songs of the group. These are such hits like “Jizz in my Pants“, “Dick in a Box” and most recently the SNL skit of Beyonce Single Ladies. They have all been internet viral successes. For many this has thrown JT into a more respected level on the internet.

However other stars such as Natalie Portman havw also appeared in skits since the group started with SNL, but probably the most talked about Lonely Island Lore is when the group was filming a “fake” Mugging skit on the street. Keffer Sutherland saw this, jumped out of his convertible and kicked their asses thinking it was real. Unfortunately the guys stopped filming as Keffer pulls up because he “blocked the shot”! DOH! FAIL! This became a subject on the talk shows as Keffer promoted 24 and giving more old school media fame injections.

To compute the comic genius behind this crew, you must watch “Hot Rod”. In most Social Bubbles a widely un commented flick. IMHO because you have to be a complete geek to understand it.

WARNING! This is not a movie that your Mom will like, or your Tax Auditer. (Trust me I tried striking up a conversation with my auditer about it. I know I lost him when I was talking about wanting to be on a boat like Leo with my flippy floppies. Not so good.)

The source code that compiles Hot Rod to a WIN is because any scene in this movie could be trolled on message boards and become a headshot. Butt it encloses the worst Latte Butt Wax “Hollywood” story line known to man. (Not women because there are a lot of crappy chick flicks out there as well. Anything with Renee Zellwigger would be worse.) And this is where “the rest” don’t get it. This film is for an ADD generation that likes to flip through windows and tabs faster than particles screaming around the Hadron Collider to create a Black Hole. To uz the movie has an on demand quality allowing us to pause, reload on beer, bongs or a jump into a WOW raid, and return without missing a beat.
