Mobuzz is closed
Categories: Work, mobuzz

So it is now sprung out on the internet. Last week Mobuzz closed it’s office. We were told that we would be able to continue, but as things go, that turned out not to be the case. There will be an official message from Anil today about what happend. All I can say it was a really great experience being here in MADrid, and now I am wondering what to do next. So yes I am looking for something new to do. Maybe something that was already offered, maybe start something new myself, maybe continue doing old projects with friends. So first thing I will do, what I am doing now, is take some time off, see family, friends, relax after the roller coaster ride of the last year. Being in Spain I have grown so much, although you wouldn’t tell from all the party pictures it is true. I am not worried or sad about what happened. It is the way things go sometimes. It is time now to decide crap or cone folks. I decide cone.

I know a lot of people are worried at the moment about finding a job, there are lots of things going on out there. I am not worried. Being worried moves my focus to the negative. So I am going to probably be doing some traveling, hitting some conferences and putting up some of my own videos like I usually do. I am a vlogger at heart and will remain so till the end I think. I will miss working with my new friends like Meriam, Osi and Cedric a lot. But who knows what the future may hold. In any case life is an adventure, and with every door that closes a new one opens. Want some more cliches? Ok. here it is, “Fuck it Dude, let’s go bowling!”

So now I am trying to figure out where to go. Back to Amsterdam, stay in Madrid, maybe Australia, Ethiopia, London, San Fran, Toronto, who knows. There are lots of options I have open. I will land on my feet somewhere. Curious to see where. Only thing is now I really should get some biz cards made. Hmmm…. Or maybe not. ;-)

  • Whenever I am down, I just read these comments. You all are awesome!!!
  • Hi! it was a sad day.
But i am sure/confident you will get out of it, re-energized with new ideas that will come together as new projects and opportunities. Ice cream cone now!

  • Thanks everyone for the kind words. I am not sure what I am going to do at the moment. It was a really great job. I had a wonderful time doing it, but I guess it was just too good to be true. So I enjoyed it while it lasted. I am pretty sure I will do something interesting. I think I will take a break for a bit to figure out what. Please keep watching here to see what it will be.
  • Dude...:( this sucks. ah man.
Well, I have a new couch bed in the spare room. So if you decide to hop to Amsterdam you'll have a place to stay.
    speak soon.
  • I am sorry to hear a good outfit has closed and an analysis of WHY (as in the last comment) might be illuminating. Let's learn! I dig your spirit and totally agree that worrying is counter-productive. It wastes energy, and can hold a person back from spotting the next opportunity. I have no doubt they are many more out there, and they will ALL be interesting. The hardest bit may now be choosing which one! (My latest blog is about firewalking - kind of appropriate...?)
  • I just can't believe all the problems that mobuzz has had in the past year. Absolute shame and I wonder if it was from poor management because I am pretty sure the userbase was good.
  • I'm so sorry, but... admire your true positive spirit!!! Go out there and vloglove the world!

Already told you how sorry I am over Skype, but still: I'm sorry. The traveling sounds good. Take some time to figure out where you want to be and what you want to do. And please take care of yourself(as we talked about) and stay positive.
Everything wil be alright in the end, if it's not alright, it's not the end.

  • Holy... Shit...

And I just started marathoning Mobuzz episodes... sigh... will still get through them for memories sake. Even if they get pulled off the feed server I got them on my machine already :).

Good luck man, sorry to hear once again... the last year has been a crazy ride!

Awww, I'm so sorry to hear that! But what really struck me was; OMG! Did you see the shoes that guy is wearing in that video??
  • @gabemac can't you and @bomega create thenextweb.com video technews? I would watch!

Sorry about that news. Mobuzz closing is a great loss for us viewers. I've been watching for years and will miss it. For you it is opportunity. Hard to do something new if you just stick to the same. Of course your growth at Mobuzz was still strong and time had not run its course.

Keep us posted. Mobuzz drew me but you are talented enough for me to follow you into other endeavors. You transcend the medium of Mobuzz. Have fun!
  • I wish you the best, Gabe! You deserve it. Just give me a ring if you need anything.
  • Gabe! I'm so sad to hear this happened. I'm sure you'll do some cool stuff pretty soon =D. Would love to see some travelling videos...like the Oktober fest video ;-)!

    Veel succes met alles!
  • thats a shame, really! best of luck for your future projects and invest the 5 bucks i spent for a nice cold beer ;-)
  • Damn. I'm so sorry about that! But seriously - you're so amazingly good in what you do, you'll definitely land on your feet. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
  • Wow, I am very sorry to hear about this and to say "this blows" is a gross understatement, but, I also know at the same time, that you will master this test.

I know that I speak for many of us when I say that we are looking forward to hearing about what you are going to do next, so keep us posted.

And yes, ice cream cone :)
  • Im sorry to hear the doors have closed. you should come stay with me at the politburo for a bit.. let me know.. Ill book the guest room and we'd be happy to have you. But indeed.. family sounds good too. If you end up in NYC in December let me know, Ill come get ya and you come meet the fonseca rendeiro family.
  • Of course I feel your pain, dude, the interwebs just lost one of its prime & sublime hubs. But I also know you will bounce back...like we always do! :-p
